An issue is currently growing in the great plains region of The United States concerning the placement of an oil pipeline and Native American land. Over 200 Native American tribes have gathered to protest the placement of the oil pipeline in North Dakota and many of the protesters have been arrested and met with violence. The Native Americans are worried that the pipeline will leak into the Missouri river and ruin their water supply, they are also concerned about their land being destroyed, one protester has already claimed that the oil company has disrupted a burial site. I personally think the oil company should have consulted with the native Americans before constructing more than half of the pipeline, If they had thought ahead and moved the pipeline out of native land than this issue would have never happened. The best solution to resolve this problem would be removing the pipeline out of the natives land, the land was reserved for a reason and if corporations are not even going to recognize that then what was the point of reserving the land in the first place? Since the oil company cannot remove the pipe they should find an alternate route that would bypass the Missouri River and agree to the terms of the Natives and their land.
