In the text, “ Gun Violence” by Amnesty International, the central idea is guns make people feel uncomfortable. In support of their central idea, the author writes that students and teachers tend to not want to go to school as the rise of gun violence has them scared. This supports the central idea because it makes them feel uncomfortable to even go to school, they can’t go to school knowing they are safe. The author also writes that sometimes the mere presence of firearms makes people scared. This supports their central idea because the people can’t know if that specific individual will kill them or not, they can just have a peaceful breakfast and certain individuals who have a firearm can just hallucinate and start shooting at them. A final piece of evidence that supports their central idea is when the author writes that gun violence tends to happen in low-income areas which scars the community a lot. This supports the central idea because the people in the community can’t even go outside without knowing if it’s their last day or not.
I find it fascinating how gun violence is such a huge crisis around the world and not in just some countries. It fascinates me as some countries that seem the most beautiful would have such high gun violence which only just destroys the economy. It is frightening that we can’t help it much as it would take lots of time and effort to just get rid of all the guns alone.
As I continue my research I hope to learn more about how did gun violence take a launch out into the world and what caused it. Can it have been caused by some wars this world has had?
