In the article “The Science Is Clear: Gun Control Saves Lives” by editors I learned that on May 24 2022 19 students and two teachers were killed at an elementary school in Uvalde Texas. The article also discusses that law enforcement wasn’t able to easily get the teen who caused such a death. The article also compares how fast guns spread throughout America like the virus COVID. It also expresses that more guns do not stop crimes and more kids die each year due to the excessive use of guns. The article also discusses how the government tries to prevent the violence.
I think that all this happened due to the easy access it is to gain a gun which further helps me to believe that we shouldn’t ban guns but make it difficult for those who are deemed unworthy to use a gun to get guns. It is sad to think that kids were killed because teenager just felt like doing it and law enforcement weren’t able to stop them. This convinces me that we should ban assault rifles because we need weapons to defend ourselves we don’t need a full auto to do just that a simple pistol is enough to defend ourselves since we saw the danger a full auto weapon can have.
As I continue to learn more of the danger guns cause in the US the more I start to lean with fearing what the future might hold in regards to guns and safety in the future.
